Now that school has started, we expect there to be positive COVID-19 cases among our students and staff. Even if students or staff test negative, they may be quarantined for a certain period of time due to exposure. Our COVID-19 Response Plan For Fall news article has been updated with a link to ACTIVE POSITIVE cases by building as we are notified by parents, staff, and/or the health department. Please DO NOT panic if your child comes home with packets of work, as many staff members are creating such work just in case.

As previously noted in our COVID-19 Response Plan For Fall, there is the potential for building or district closure due to staffing shortages or a large percentage of students testing positive for COVID-19. Likewise, transportation plans could be altered or delayed due to driver shortages. Please be sure your family has contingency plans should a building or the district have to close due to staffing shortages or outbreaks.

Please remember, a staff member or student out of school does not necessarily mean their absence reflects a positive case of COVID-19. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

District to Offer Shuttle Bus from Northwood to Primary Schools

School Bus

In an effort to help parents picking up siblings at more than one school, Sidney City Schools will continue to offer an afternoon-only shuttle bus service from Northwood Intermediate to Emerson and Longfellow Primary for the 2020-2021 school year.

Service will begin the first week of school for those who have been confirmed to ride. To be confirmed, families must complete the survey below. Students taking advantage of the shuttle bus can either be picked up at the primary schools or may walk home.

There are some very important stipulations:

  • Riding the shuttle bus is a privilege. Any misbehavior on the bus or on the premises at Emerson or Longfellow may result in this privilege being taken away.
  • If you would like your child to ride the shuttle bus they must do so every day (emergencies/illnesses excluded). If your child’s dismissal changes, please notify the school in advance.
  • There is a limited number of available bus seats. We will fill the seats on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • You must receive confirmation before your child is able to ride.

We are hoping this will help parents with multiple pick-ups and alleviate some of the traffic congestion at Northwood as we continue to improve the traffic flow. We are asking that you please be patient and please be courteous to all of the Northwood neighbors.

Any questions or concerns please contact the Northwood office at (937)497-2231 or call Transportation at 937-497-2206.
