SMS Student Receives New Wheelchair

November 7, 2017 - Sidney Middle School student Cutberto Ramirez and his father Andres received a very special surprise this morning - a brand new wheelchair!

On Saturday, November 4, Susan Barr of Delaware, Ohio posted to Facebook that she had a brand new wheelchair to donate to a special needs child, middle school age, that she would deliver personally. Through the connection of a former player/student, the post reached Wade and Stacey New, both Sidney Middle School employees. Stacey, working in the MD classroom, knew of the perfect recipient. With a few messages back and forth, it was decided that the wheelchair would be perfect for Cutberto and the need for a new chair for him was great.

Susan made the drive from Delaware today to deliver the chair. Cutberto’s father came to the classroom today expecting a surprise, but had no idea how grand that surprise would be! Happy tears and smiles abound, it’s safe to say Cutberto loves the new chair! With a little fitting, it will be a perfect chair for him as he continues to grow through middle school and beyond.

Thank you, Susan, for your generosity. Everyone in that room was touched by your kind spirit, especially the Ramirez family.
