Brightening the Climate at Opportunity School New Opportunity School Office and Conference Room

The Shelby County – Sidney City Opportunity School recently renovated the office at Sidney High School. This area has served as a hub for students, parents, faculty and administration since 2008. The staff was faced with the dilemma to either upgrade or invest in new construction in order to bring the facility into the 21st Century. Priorities were established, a cost analysis was conducted, and a decision made by the staff to proceed using an architectural sketch designed by Greg Johnson and Hilary Davis (Opportunity School team members).

His philosophy is simple. His job is “All about the kids.” And with that simple statement, Bob Humble is off and running as the new superintendent for Sidney City Schools. Humble officially took over on Aug. 1. “It’s been fantastic so far,” said Humble. “I love the folks here — the students, staff and community members. I’ve been getting to know the kids. I’ve been really busy, but I like being busy.”

The Sidney Buzz is a Sidney High School publication published in the Sidney Daily News each week and highlights events, activities and the work of students at SHS. 

New Traffic Pattern at SMS & SHS New Traffic Pattern at SMS/SHS - Map

August 1, 2018 - When Sidney Middle School and Sidney High School students head back to school on August 16, parents and students should expect a new traffic pattern to help ensure student safety. The lots "behind" both schools will be closed off and accessible only to buses between the hours of 6am and 3pm. 

Four to Join Hall in April 2018

December 16, 2017 - Four new inductees were selected to the Sidney City Schools Hall of Honor this week and will be enshrined on Friday evening April 20, 2018 in the Sidney High School auditorium beginning at 7pm. The public is invited to attend this 25th annual event and the reception that follows in the adjacent gymnasium. The Hall will have 127 members with these additions.
