Sidney High School is a comprehensive college-prep oriented public high school. The school year is divided into two semesters with four 9 week grading periods. The school day runs from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM; classes are 43 to 45 minutes in length, and the daily schedule includes a 40 minute Intevention/Enrichment period (I/E). Vocational students have the opportunity to attend the Upper Valley Career Center for vocational programs with several vocational programs also housed at SHS. Sidney High School is State accredited in Ohio by the Ohio Department of Education and is a member of the Greater Western Ohio Conference and Ohio High School Athletic Association in athletics. All boys and girls sports are Division 1 with the exception of football, which is Division 2.

Sidney High School has 55 professionally trained certified staff members. Approximately 66% of the teaching staff have masters degrees with over half of these having additional post-graduate work beyond the masters level.

Sidney High School average enrollment is 980, with approximately 200 students attending the Upper Valley Career Center. The average graduating class size is approximately 250 students.

Students at Sidney High School have access to more than 20 College Credit Plus (college-level) and Advanced Placement courses.

Sidney City Schools offers more than 70 extra curricular activities for students from 6th grade on. Sports include: football; boys & girls soccer; boys & girls basketball; boys baseball; girls fast pitch; boys & girls tennis; co-ed track; co-ed bowling; boys & girls swimming; co-ed cross country; girls volleyball; boys wrestling; weight lifting; cheer leading; marching band; and golf. Clubs include: Academia, Mock Trial, Breakfast Club, Key Club, Art Club, FCCLA; Drama Club; Foreign Language Club; Student Government; National Honor Society; DECCA; Chess Club.

The Sidney City School District serves the City of Sidney and the Villages of Port Jefferson and Maplewood. Sidney Middle School is a building that serves students in grades 5-8. The school year is divided into two semesters, with four 9 week grading periods. The school day runs from 7:40AM to 2:25PM; classes are approximately 46 minutes in length. Students are able to earn high school credit in Physical Education and Algebra. SMS is accredited in Ohio by the Ohio Department of Education and is a member of the Greater Western Ohio Conference and Ohio High School Athletic Association in athletics.

Sidney Middle School has 64 professionally trained, certified staff members, and 25 classified staff members. Approximately 77% of the teaching staff have masters degrees with about half of the staff with masers degrees having additional post-graduate work beyond the masters level. 

Sidney Middle School is a climate controlled, state-of-the-art facility which opened its doors in 2004. The building is designed in three wings, which house each grade level in a separate area. SMS is home to four advanced technology computer labs, full media/library center, and dedicated special education classrooms to meet the needs of all students. The facility offers two large gymnasiums, weight room, three full-size music rooms, modern science labs, and a tiered auditeria with stage, sound system, and production lighting.

Student clubs include: Breakfast Club, Student Council, Battle of the Books, and Yearbook. Sports include: football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, wrestling, track, fastpitch, baseball, and cheerleading. Student activities include: Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, incentive programs, music concerts, and Student Council sponsored after-school dances. 

Sidney Middle School staff provide opportunities for students to explore and deepen college and career knowledge and skills necessary for academic planning and goal setting. Workforce Academy, in partnership with local business and industry, is offered to all 7th and 8th grade students.

Each of the elementary school buildings serve students in grades kindergarten through 5th, with the exception of Emerson who only serves students kindergarten through 4th. The school year is divided into two semesters, with four 9 week grading periods. The school day runs from 8:45AM to 3:15PM.

Emerson Elementary has 21 professionally trained and certified staff members. Approximately 92% of the teaching staff has master’s degrees, as well as additional post-graduate work beyond the master’s level.

All students participate in music, art and physical education programs with trained specialists. Emerson is equipped with a computer lab, 2 Chromebook carts, and an iPad cart to work on technology education. Students also have access to a variety of additional programs including access to non-denominational religious education (conducted off-site through an outside organization), Talented and Gifted education opportunities, ELL (English Language Learners), and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

All students have access to specialized interventions and services including a special education inclusion environment, speech therapy, counseling/guidance services, occupational and physical therapy, psychology services and full Title I services. Emerson also has a strong volunteer program, allowing members of the community to work with teachers and students in the classroom. Intervention programs are available after the school day for students in grades 3-4.

Sidney Alternantive School serves students in all grades with 3 Emotionally Disturbed (ED) classes, an alternative school class for students with severe behavior issues, and a transitional alternative school class to prepare students with moderate behavoir issues to transition back into general education classroom environments.
