The Sidney High Student Government is jazzed to host the annual homecoming dance, with a 1920s theme, on Saturday, October 7, 2017.
Homecoming activities will kickoff on Wednesday, October 4 with the homecoming parade and meet and greet with athletes and the homecoming court following. The parade will kick off at 6:30pm from the Shelby County Fairgrounds, where it will travel north on Highland Avenue and then west on Campbell Road to the High School. Participants in the parade will include all court members riding in cars and representatives of each class carrying banners. Spectators are welcome to watch the homecoming parade anywhere on the parade route and join the parade participants, athletes, and homecoming court at the end of the parade.
On Thursday afternoon, October 5, all SHS students will participate in a homecoming pep rally. Sidney High School Television Productions classes will present a video slide show highlighting each court candidate on the announcements prior to the pep rally. The SHS band and cheerleaders from all levels will kick off the festivities. Court members and student volunteers from each class will participate in various games and competitions. Fall sports senior athletes will also be recognized.
The homecoming football game will take place Thursday, October 5, 2017, as the Week 7 game of Fox 45’s Thursday Night Lights. Pitting Sidney against Tipp, the game will kick off at 7:00pm.
Prior to the game, the homecoming crowning ceremony will take place. Court members will be introduced at 6:20pm on Thursday, October 5, at Sidney Memorial Stadium. 2016 King Elliot Wilson and Queen Jenna Foster Wheeler will crown the 2017 king and queen at approximately 6:30pm.
The homecoming dance is Saturday, October 7 from 8-11pm in the SHS large gym. Tickets are $8.00 and will be on sale before and after school in A104 or during lunch the week of Homecoming; they will also available at the door for the same price.
