Free Cuts For Kids Free Cuts For Kids

Community members are organizing a Free Cuts For Kids event in conjunction with one of our registration events - Join us August 21 from 4-7pm at SHS! Basic boy/girl hair cuts, food, personal hygiene products, and school supplies for FREE thanks to generous donations! All while supplies last. While kids are getting hair cuts, get your child’s online registration through Final Forms completed!

Sidney City Schools will utilize Final Forms online registration for the 2019-2020 school year. Online registration through Final Forms is mandatory for parents or guardians to complete prior to the first day of school. Schedules and teacher/classroom assignments will be withheld until online registration is complete. 

SCS Receives “Expanding Opportunities For Each Child” Grant Workforce Partnership Logo

August 19, 2019 – Sidney City School District has received a $700,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Education for “Expanding Opportunities for Each Child.” The proposal, set for the next three years, is designed to expand access to and enrollment in construction and manufacturing coursework for students through the development of career pathways, while aligning with Sidney’s continuous improvement plans.

SHS Students Earn Black Achievers Scholarship Black Achievers Scholarship Winners - 2019

May 24, 2019 – Sidney High School's Merzades Jelks received the James P. Humphrey Scholarship in the amount of $1,100 and Olivia White received the Elder Claudie Johnson Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 during the senior awards program at Sidney High School on May 16. These scholarships were named in honor of James P. Humphrey, Sidney's first African-American mayor, and Elder Claudie Johnson, a charter member of the Black Achievers. Scholarships were also awarded to Josiah Hudgins, Amaya Matlock, and Ratez Roberts.

The Sidney Education Association held their awards dinner on May 7, 2019, in conjunction with Teacher Appreciation Week. The evening, filled with laughter and tears, celebrated various teachers for accomplishments and achievements throughout the year, as well as those who from the community who have positively impacted the education of Sidney City Schools students.
 

Members honored Sara Olding, English teacher at Sidney High School, as Teacher of the Year. Olding was nominated by her colleagues, Nicole Collaruso, and Allexis and Christian Taylor.

Sidney City Schools is proud to begin to offer preschool to children ages 3-5. Preschool registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now open.  

Bridge Construction Traffic Pattern Fair Road Bridge Construction Traffic Map - 2019

February 21, 2019 - Beginning in March, construction is going to take place on the Fair Road bridge by Sidney Middle School. In anticipation of the eventual closing of lanes in the area, District administration has worked closely with the Shelby County Engineer's office to develop a modified traffic flow pattern for both Sidney Middle School and Sidney High School to alleviate congestion in this area and on our school campus for the safety of our students. Please follow the modified traffic plan during the time of construction, which is anticipated to be complete by November 2019.
